Genetic analysis of acrA and lir mutations of Escherichia coli.

چکیده
An analysis of acrA (acriflavine- and methylene blue-sensitive) and lir (lincomycin- and erythromycin-sensitive) mutants of Escherichia coli indicated that these mutations are probably within the same gene.

Genetic variations in the active efflux pump genes acrA/B and tolC in different drug-induced strains of Escherichia coli CVCC 1547.
This study aimed to investigate the properties of mutations of the active efflux pump genes acrA/B and tolC in Escherichia coli CVCC 1547 when induced by different drugs. The mutations were isolated in vitro by exposing E. coli CVCC 1547 to stepwise increases in the concentration of ceftriaxone (CRO), amikacin (AMK), or ciprofloxacin. The results showed that the minimum inhibitory concentration...
متن کاملExpression of acrA and acrB Genes in Esherichia coli Mutants with or without marR or acrR Mutations
Objective(s): The major antibiotic efflux pump of Esherichia coli is AcrAB-TolC. The first part of the pump, AcrAB, is encoded by acrAB operon. The expression of this operon can be kept elevated by overexpression of an activator, MarA following inactivation of MarR and AcrR repressors due to mutation in encoding genes, marR and acrR, respectively. The aims of this research were to us...
متن کاملGenetic characterization of highly fluoroquinolone-resistant clinical Escherichia coli strains from China: role of acrR mutations.
The genetic basis for fluoroquinolone resistance was examined in 30 high-level fluoroquinolone-resistant Escherichia coli clinical isolates from Beijing, China. Each strain also demonstrated resistance to a variety of other antibiotics. PCR sequence analysis of the quinolone resistance-determining region of the topoisomerase genes (gyrA/B, parC) revealed three to five mutations known to be asso...
متن کاملStudy of Mutations in the DNA gyrase gyrA Gene of Escherichia coli
Quinolones are a large and widely consumed class of synthetic drugs. Expanded-spectrum quinolones, like ciprofloxacin are highly effective against Gram-negative bacteria, especially Escherichia coli. In E. coli the major target for quinolones is DNA gyrase. This enzyme is composed of two subunits, GyrA and GyrB encoding by gyrA and gyrB, respectively. Mutations in either of these genes cause qu...
